ModeratorGood job identifying the key issue here – the crucial role of market research in business success. Your suggestions on gathering customer feedback and doing a competitor analysis are very good strategies to make informed business decisions. Altogether, a very good group analysis, well done to the whole group.
Polina Sedova
ModeratorGood job on identifying the challenges related to the case study. You correctly highlighted the importance of time management to balance work, personal life and studying. However, your analysis could have gone deeper, expanding on effective conscious learning that could have prevented the mistake such as specific strategies to set priorities or using scheduling tools.

ModeratorA very good analysis of the case study, Yanika. Doing research is key prior to making important decisions and can help prevent making wrong choices. Keep up the good work!

ModeratorDear all,
I tried to find some extra information for you, this time on the sampling methods that we discussed during session 5. Below are some links that might be helpful for you. Also, please take a look at the Module Notes where everything is explained in more detail about the sampling, statistics, etc.

ModeratorDear all,
I also noticed that our discussion around research objectives vs. research questions yesterday resulted in a bit of confusion, so I decided to give you more examples based on works that I published and put some more explanations here.
The research objective is the aim of the research, what we are doing it for (to describe, to analyse, to examine, to explain, etc.) The research objective that is put into a question form will be the main research question for your study. To be able to answer this main research question and achieve your research aim, you need to divide the research problem into several aspects/components and look at each of these parts of the problem with the help of secondary research questions.
Secondary research questions look at certain aspects of the research problem that we need to analyse to be able to achieve our research aim. They help us to answer our main research question. In other words, what do we need to know/examine/analyse, etc. in order to be able to answer the main question in full.
Here are 2 examples. They are not related to Business and Management but hopefully will help you to get an idea of what I’m talking about.
Example 1. Problem: The legislation on guide dogs access rights in Russia is unclear and does not effectively protect the rights of people with visual impairments who own guide dogs.
Research objective (research aim) – identify the gaps in the existing policy related to guide dogs in Russia.
Main research question – what are the gaps and ambiguities in the current policy related to guide dogs in Russia?
Secondary research questions (what should I research and analyse to be able to answer my main question/achieve my research aim):
1) What are the gaps in existing legislation related to legal recognition of guide dogs and guide dog training organisations in Russia?
2) What are the gaps in existing legislation related to certification and training of guide dogs in Russia?
3) What are the gaps in existing legislation related to public access rights for people who own guide dogs in Russia?Example 2. Problem: Lack of comprehensive description of the human rights model of disability in academic literature. The information is in bits and pieces here is there and it’s unclear, how this model is different from other disability models.
Research objective (research aim) – give a comprehensive overview of the human rights model of disability based on the existing academic literature on this topic
Main research question – What is the human rights model of disability?
Secondary research questions (what should I research and analyse to be able to answer my main question/achieve my research aim):
1) What was the history behind the creation of the model?
2) What are the scope and main features of the model?
3) How is this model different from other disability models?
4) What are the main critique arguments against this model and the reasons behind them?If you have any further questions or comments, feel free to discuss them in this tread.
Wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Regards
