Malta Business School Autumn Review

Learning Highlights and Season’s Greetings

As the days grow shorter and winter starts taking hold, it is a time for reflection and anticipation. In this review, we look back at the highlights of the past season, from September to November, celebrating achievements and memorable moments. With Christmas just around the corner and a new year on the horizon, join us as we reflect on this season’s highlights and share an exciting preview of what lies ahead.

Events and Highlights

This autumn has been a season of meaningful initiatives, impactful collaborations, and inspiring events at Malta Business School. From raising awareness for vital causes to contributing to cultural and professional growth, here is a glimpse of our recent highlights.

Pink October

In October, Malta Business School turned pink! We dedicated the month to raising awareness about cancer prevention and supporting the incredible work of Hospice Malta. By encouraging regular screening and early detection, we aimed to promote health and well-being within our community.

As part of the Pink October movement, we hosted events involving our staff, some of our learners, and alumni, doubling donations from social media efforts and course activities. We also enjoyed pink and blue donuts purchased directly from Hospice Malta to further support their cause.

On 21st November, we proudly presented a €500 donation to Daniela Psaila, a Hospice Malta volunteer. Hospice Malta provides vital palliative care for patients and support for their families, and we are honoured to contribute to their mission.

Thank you to everyone who helped us make a difference. Together, we have achieved something meaningful, and we look forward to supporting this cause again next year!

Fireworks Festival

Malta Business School was proud to be invited to attend, support, and co-facilitate key training sessions at the inaugural Fireworks Festival Conference, held on the 16th November in the Corinthia Palace Ballroom. This landmark event brought together professionals, pyrotechnicians, and enthusiasts to explore the art, safety, and regulation of fireworks, a cherished element of Maltese cultural heritage.

Hon. Minister Clayton Bartolo opened the conference, unveiling a rebranded Fireworks Festival connected to VisitMalta to boost international appeal and tourism while preserving Maltese identity. Dr Godfrey Farrugia introduced the new Fireworks Manual, a comprehensive guide on safety, health standards, and regulatory compliance.

Three delegates from Malta Business School helped to co-facilitate sessions on leadership, event management, and practical strategies for organising large-scale fireworks displays, alongside discussions on fire insurance and risk mitigation. This unique event provided a valuable platform to connect, network, learn from experts, and ensure Malta’s fireworks tradition continues to thrive for future generations.

FinanceMalta’s 17th Annual Conference

Malta Business School was proud to serve as the exclusive academic sponsor for FinanceMalta’s 17th Annual Conference, held on 29th of November at the Hilton Conference Centre. The event, themed Empowering Financial Services, brought together an exceptional lineup of professionals, executives, EU policymakers, Maltese government representatives, global standard-setting officials, renowned academics, and industry leaders from Malta and beyond.

Attendees enjoyed insightful keynote speeches from leading organisations, including the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), Malta Stock Exchange (MSE), Mastercard, and many others. The conference was chaired by Sorcha Hellyer, a BBC News representative and founder of Image Diplomacy, who ensured a thought-provoking and engaging agenda.

Our team had a fantastic time connecting and networking with industry professionals at our booth and discussing how our academic programmes and corporate training can empower success. We are grateful to everyone who stopped by and we are looking forward to building on the relationships established at this inspiring event.

Networking

Malta Business School believes in the power of a good network and in maintaining a strong good old-fashioned face to face presence at international events and conferences to continuously strive to build and develop international connections and further partnerships.

In September the Dean and Head of Programmes of Malta Business School attended the ICEF Higher Education event in London and later in November, the Businet Conference in Istanbul. During their time in the UK, they arranged meetings with a number of Educational Agents and held a very fruitful meeting with Alex Birks the CEO of ATHE. In the coming week, we are looking forward to meeting with three more schools in Germany to continue strengthening our ongoing cooperation agreements.

Henley News

It was with great pride and an air of excitement that Malta Business School joined in the celebrations at Henley Greenlands on 20th September and watched as a group of our very own Henley Executive MBA learners donned their caps and gowns and graduated.

Later, on the 18th of October, Malta Business School hosted the third Henley Top-Up Talk held in collaboration with HAMC (Henley Alumni Malta Chapter). These events are held periodically throughout the year and are exclusive to Henley Alumni. The guest speakers were Dr Alexei Dingli who gave a detailed overview of the developments in the AI field, and Dr Stephen Simister from Henley, UK who spoke about Managing Change in today’s uncertain times.

The month of October also marked a major milestone for Henely Business School, having exceeded 100,00 alumni across 165 countries. We are proud that our alumni from Malta form part of such a global, exclusive network.

Workshops and Bespoke Corporate Training

Over the past three months, we have delivered a range of impactful workshops designed to empower professionals with essential skills and knowledge. From sustainability and HR management to project management and professional communication, our sessions have provided practical tools and strategies to drive personal and professional development and success in various fields.

On 4th September, participants engaged in a dynamic CSR & ESG workshop. The session, designed for professionals dedicated to sustainable growth, explored practical strategies to integrate CSR and ESG principles into operations, balancing profitability with positive societal impact.

On 12th September, participants attended an HR Essentials workshop. This hands-on session provided professionals with insights into effective HR management, covering employee relations, workforce planning, and succession strategies to strengthen organisational success.

On 8th October, we delivered an engaging, interactive Professional English workshop. The sessions focused on enhancing business communication skills, with an emphasis on effective writing and confident speaking, empowering professionals to communicate with greater proficiency and confidence.

In addition to our ‘off the shelf’ Professional Development Workshops, Malta Business School prides itself in curating bespoke training, designed to meet the specific needs of departments, companies or organisations. During this period we facilitated dynamic and collaborative sessions, such as six different skill-based sessions for Sara Grech Ltd and two sessions of hybrid project management training for Probe Investments Ltd (Energy Casino) with participants both in-class and remote. We also provided communication skills and confident communication training to Compre Services (UK) Limited, and sales training to Complete Supplies Ltd.

Looking Ahead

Malta Business School will bring the spirit of Christmas to life with a friendly and heartwarming celebration to be held on Monday 16th December at its premises in Birkirkara. The event is exclusive to recent alumni, current staff, tutors, and learners, uniting our community in festive cheer and gratitude for the past year.

We are thrilled and filled with anticipation for our Graduation, taking place at the beautiful Eden Lodge on 30th January 2025! It is a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements of our learners and the dedication of all our staff and tutors.

As we look ahead to an exciting new year, we cannot wait to launch new courses, welcome new learners, and for countless opportunities to meet, learn, and grow together. With a shared commitment to our motto, ‘Applying Knowledge for Success,’ we are ready to achieve even greater heights.

From all of us at Malta Business School, we wish our learners, alumni, staff, tutors, and partners a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with success and inspiration.
