HAD-DINGLI Slow City Status

Had-Dingli is a small and picturesque village located in the western part of Malta. It is known for the unique characteristics this typical Maltese village has. However, by time it is losing the slow city status since old houses are being demolished and are being replaced by multiple story apartments and buildings.

An idea of how we can preserve the Slow City Status is by encouraging people to buy old houses instead of the new ones.

The government should propose a legislation that secures that old houses are preserved and cannot be demolished. Moreover, increase incentives to the younger generation when buying their first house, in a way that they can afford on buying such houses. Giving rebates and lower charges to young people who are tying to buy an old house will entice them to proceed with a purchase.
Tourist also are increasing every year, and due to this, a lot of businesses are opening, and population is always increasing.

Meeting with local council and sharing the concerns on preserving the characteristics of this village can get back it’s status of Slow City.

Sometimes it is hard to have a slow city village in Malta since we are a small country, however, the last few villages need to be preserved and safeguarded to keep up with the Slow City Status.
