This qualification aims to enable managers to think and plan strategically around an organisation’s direction by developing a set of both critical thinking, and human skills.
Learning around critical thinking will focus on creating strategic options for an organisation after reviewing the business plan and values, while also developing skills to take financial analysis into consideration when making strategic decisions. The human skillset will focus on organisational behaviour and its impact on employee motivation and retention, while also developing ones own leadership style through personal development and communication techniques. Sharing the vision with others can be crucial to success.

This programme will provide the opportunity for learners to develop a breadth of knowledge and understanding of subject matter related to strategic management topics and issues. It will focus on the development of transferable skills necessary for learners to grow both personally and in the working environment and effectively help the organisation to enhance performance.
This qualification is designed for professionals who are seeking career progression and/or who are working towards middle/senior management roles. It is also ideal for learners who would like to progress in higher education and towards Master’s level/Level 7 outcomes.
Eligibility criteria:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- An MQF/EQF Level 6 Degree in Business, Management or related subjects or an equivalent international qualification.
OR
- Minimum 23 years of age
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience with a level of managerial responsibility
- Participation and/or achievement of professional qualifications will be positively considered.
PLUS
- An appropriate standard of English. In those cases where English is not your first language we require a B2 level of English achieved in the last 5 years (English Language O-level grade 5+ or IELTS 5.5+ or equivalent); Or proof that you use English as your working language at your place of work; Or your qualification/s were delivered in the English language.
Strategic Planning
The unit aims to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to develop an organisational strategic plan.
By the end of this unit, learners will be able to:
- Understand the foundations for developing organisational strategy
- Review an organisation’s strategy and business plans
- Develop strategy options for an organisation
Finance for Strategic Managers
This unit aims to develop knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable learners to analyse internal and publicly available financial information. This will help to inform strategic decision-making.
By the end of this unit, learners will be able to:
- Understand the importance of financial data in formulating and delivering business strategy
- Use financial analysis as a tool for strategic decision-making
- Evaluate proposals for strategic capital expenditure in an organisation
Organisational Behaviour
The aim of this unit is to help learners develop an understanding of how organisational behaviour, structure, culture, motivation, creativity and leadership impact on an organisation’s effectiveness and efficiency.
By the end of this unit, learners will be able to:
- Understand leadership behaviour theory and practice
- Understand how organisational structures and culture impact on the effectiveness of an organisation
- Understand how organisations can improve employee motivation and effectiveness
Personal Development for Leadership and Strategic Management
This unit aims to help learners develop their own personal leadership and management skills in the context of the creation and achievement of organisational vision and strategic direction.
By the end of this unit, learners will be able to:
- Understand how knowledge and skills in leadership and strategic management support the creation and achievement of organisational vision and strategy
- Understand how to develop and communicate organisational vision
- Manage development of own knowledge and skills in leadership and strategic management to support achievement of personal and organisational vision and strategy
- Reflect on the benefits of personal development in the achievement of personal growth and organisational vision and strategy
