The Metropolitan Police use of live facial recognition (FRT) has flagged accuracy issues, with 81% of identified suspects being innocent, out of 42 flagged matches, only 8 were confirmed as correct, with 4 missed due to crowd loss, giving an effective error rate of 0.1%. Such valid concerns raise eyebrows from human rights advocates who believe certain demographics like minorities, woman, and youth are misidentified, thus promoting racial profiling and discrimination. This would cause needless stops and low public confidence in the police and FRT.
