Energy sustainability and environmental care
Given our country’s small size and high population it is important that we come together as one to protect our unique environment, having mostly sunny days, grants on solar panels should be increased from the existing 50% to 75% which will reach a larger customer base and help cut the importation of fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions
Traffic is another factor which increases pollution, incentives for locals to switch from cars to bikes would not only better the environment but also people’s lives, avoiding having to wait to an hour of waiting in traffic. Promoting sustainable agricultural and opting for locally grown food will boost the local economy and reduce the reliance on imported food.
With a lack of greenspaces and parks for individuals and families to relax and catch a breath after a hard week, local councils with support from the government could plant trees keeping in mind everybody’s safety in the large main roads and incentives locals to plant and take care of trees in privately owned residencys.
With time passing and the country heading in the other direction, applying one measure would also be a start to a green, less poluted Malta
